The Fit Shuttle and Fit Shuttle Hybrid Premiere on the Japanese Market

TARRYTOWN, N.Y., June 24, 2011 – The award-winning Honda Fit has been extended into the Fit Shuttle and Fit Shuttle Hybrid, now on sale in Japan. The smaller Fit proved so popular that in anticipation of the release of its minivan update, 7,000 pre-orders were received from Japanese buyers.

The new Honda Fit Shuttle and Honda Fit Shuttle Hybrid

The Fit Shuttle and its hybrid counterpart have two separate powertrains and get an estimated 27/35 MPG and 40/43 MPG, respectively. The Fit Shuttle has a choice of two trims, CVT or automatic transmission, and front wheel or all wheel drive. The Fit Shuttle Hybrid has four trims to choose from, all of which are equipped with CVT and front wheel drive.

Fit Shuttle to Hit U.S.?

Honda still hasn’t announced whether the Fit Shuttle models will go on sale in the U.S. market, but judging by the already overwhelmingly positive response from Japanese car buyers, the company is heavily considering it.

“There’s a history of vehicles being tested out on the Japanese market before they come to the U.S.,” says Tarrytown Honda manager Chris Mendicina. “The Fit is already so popular and well-rated and the Shuttle has done extremely well so far. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see them on the U.S. market soon.”

The original Fit is still going strong

Until then, Mendicina is happy to meet the high demand for the current Honda Fit, a Best Car for the Money pick by U.S. News and World Report. The sporty compact has also garnered the following accolades:

  • 2011 Top Recommended Vehicle
  • Best Retained Value Award
  • ALG’s 2011 Residual Value Award for Best Subcompact Car
  • One of Car and Driver’s best on the 10 Best Cars List
  • Kelley Blue Book’s pick for Best Resale Value Award
  • One of Kelley Blue Book’s Top Ten Back-to-School Cars

With its impressive interior room and cargo capacity, combined 30 MPG, versatile storage options, and fun drive, it’s not hard to see why the Fit has become so popular. The Honda Fit also comes loaded with tons of features and options at an astonishingly low price – a rarity for its class.

Honda Fit offers lots of standard features for very little money

Tarrytown Honda has new Fits starting at $16,650 and used Fits available for under $15,000. That includes USB and MP3 connections, speed-sensitive volume control, interior air filtration system, 12V front power outlets, power windows, mirrors, and locks, stability control and traction control – many features which are unheard of in its price range.
